What we are looking for:

We're looking for a talented full stack developer who is driven by a passion to create beautiful and impactful experiences to lead the core web product team. You should have a deep understanding of modern web architectures from backend to frontend, including API-driven single page application architecture. Strong technical leadership to partner with the product team helping to manage risk, control scope, and keep projects on track. You share the value of education to transform lives and create new potential in the world.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Partner closely with product managers and designers to plan & scope projects
  • Review product specs with a focus on improving engagement metrics and user impact
  • Deliver high quality code in a rapid iteration and experimentation environment
  • Write & review technical specs for the engineering team
  • Mentor other developers with code reviews and technical feedback to level up the team
  • Provide accurate estimates of effort and delivery timelines
  • Growth mindset to improve the practices and processes of a growing organization
  • Grow team by interviewing and evaluating candidates

Requirements:

  • Experience developing consumer facing products at scale
  • Able to lead projects of complexity with flawless execution
  • Excellent communication across organizational functions and teams
  • Comfortable with modern javascript frameworks such as React in a SPA application
  • Capable of designing and building backend APIs
  • Design efficient data storage solutions in SQL (Postgresql)
  • Knowledge of performance optimization strategies for large scale web traffic
  • Passionate curiosity to learn new technologies and advise on their potential adoption
  • Data-driven mindset for measuring results and outcomes
  • Experience with video or audio streaming on the web is a plus
  • Based from the San Francisco office
  • 7-8+ years of web development experience
