This role is with a leading, global hedge fund who are looking to hire a Site Reliability Engineer to work directly with traders and other users of the internal systems in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. This role will see the successful candidate work directly with the development team on release management projects and improving processes, tools and procedures, alongside having the ability to work on development projects when the workload allows for it. Therefore, this role would suit someone who is willing to learn and grow with the firm in a long-term position. The type and nature of projects that will be worked on will only be limited by the individuals’ level of development skills and desire to achieve. Therefore an ambitious and hard working individual is paramount. This role will also suit someone who is commercially minded as longer-term responsibilities will require the ability to seek trends and themes in applications, prioritising resolutions that will have a bigger return on investment and reduce operational risk. Alongside the professional experience of Python, any experience in one or more of the following – Excel, SQL, C# or Perl would be advantageous. Although it is a preference for candidates to have finance experience, the fund will also look at candidates who have experience in different sectors, as long as there is a desire to learn more about finance in the long term. Requirements: Strong academic background preferably in a quantitative subject from a top tier university. Proficiency in Python Ideally 3 years of professional experience Calm and easy-going person, able to empathize with distressed users in a fast paced, high-performance environment. Ability to quickly discover users' personality traits and manage them accordingly Strong communication skills Knowledge of Linux, Bash, Powershell, Git, Grafana, Prometheus is highly desirable.
