Technical Product Marketing Manager

Description

Do you get an abnormal thrill out of bringing technical products from the brains of engineers into the hands of everyday developers? Do you bring order to the chaos of sequencing launches in a fast-paced and fast-changing environment?

As a Technical Product Marketing Manager, you are the puppet master of product launches. You own the pipeline which takes products that have been built over months or years and turns them into easily digestible messages and delightful onboarding experiences. You fill the gap between engineering, product and marketing to conduct this symphony. Like a Product Manager, you have more influence than authority. Once a product has a reasonably firm shipping deadline on the calendar, you will officially take ownership and make sure it gets to market with a bang.

Your job will be inherently multi-disciplinary. You'll need to understand how the guts of the product operate so you can ask the right questions of engineering while at the same time appreciate how the product messaging and positioning will have to reach everyday users. You will need to be comfortable writing blog posts and coordinating the production of demos. Unlike PMM at a large company, you will have to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty with all of this. It is a high ownership position - if the launch doesn't succeed, it's on you.

As you know, that's a double-edged sword.

You don't need to have done a role titled "product marketing" before but you certainly should have spent significant time in startup environments and done the work previously described, regardless of how it was categorized.

About NEAR and the NEAR Collective

NEAR's mission is to enable community-driven innovation to benefit people around the world. The NEAR platform provides a decentralized application platform that is secure enough to manage high value assets like money or identity and performant enough to make them useful for everyday people, putting the power of Open Finance and the Open Web in their hands.

The NEAR platform, NEAR Protocol and associated tooling are being built by the NEAR Collective, a collection of the best engineers in the world who work across teams, companies and countries similar to other large scale open source projects. Core contributors include a couple of 2-time ICPC world champions, 2 gold medalists, a Latin American champion and multiple other competitive programming finalists.

Working at NEAR

Roles are posted to this portal on behalf of the companies that make up the NEAR Collective and are typically located anywhere in the world because most of the companies are fully remote. Some hubs are located in Switzerland, Germany, Russia, the US and China. Regardless of where you work, this is a high performance culture that values ownership, execution and professionalism but pairs it with curiosity and experimentation. The vision is big but the right team is behind it.
