HSBC Alternatives is the alternative investment arm of HSBC Asset Management, investing globally in a wide spectrum of alternatives asset classes including Private Markets, Hedge Funds, Real Estate, Energy transition infrastructure, Private Debt and Venture Capital, with an AUM of c.$60 billion and 270 staff across 10 offices (inc. London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore). The Alternative Operations Team is responsible for the global investment operations function comprises transaction and trade services, portfolio operations, product/portfolio oversight for all alternative investment products of HSBC Alternatives. The Team currently operates from centres of excellence in London, Bangalore and Singapore. Reporting directly to the Head of Indirect Private Assets Investment Operations, the Senior Manager, Alternative Investment Operations will support the operations of the Indirect Private Asset products including Private Equity, Infrastructure Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate as well as the Hedge Funds portfolios in the form of Mandates, Funds-of-Funds and UCITS. In this role, you will: Manage investment operations, with focus on Indirect Private Assets, hedge funds mandates, funds-of-funds and Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) Transaction & Trade Services: oversight of portfolio allocation model analysis, transaction & trade execution, tax due diligence, review of legal documents, control, reconciliation & investment restrictions monitoring with a risk centric emphasis. Product Launches: support of the design & delivery of new products Valuation Oversight: NAV review, valuation support for complex illiquid assets, carry interest & waterfalls Liquidity & treasury management including cash flows analysis (calls, distributions & cash forecasting); credit, hedging and forex operations. Pricing portfolio positions & benchmarking Portfolio valuation process including supporting the interaction with external administrators and verification of information received. Fund trading including notification to portfolio custodian and sourcing of information required to complete the trade execution. Manage portfolio liquidity and treasury activities. Manage timely production of portfolio-level reporting and KPIs Stakeholders' Management Manage implementation of ad-hoc business transformation projects and system improvement projects Risk and Compliance: Implementation of regulatory and tax changes, implementing financial crime compliance & control, support business continuity, executing Operational Risk Management Framework, design and maintenance of procedures and policies consistent with controls. Train and help other members of the team developing their expertise (Mentoring) Requirements To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements: Prior Asset or Wealth Management experience is essential, ideally with a with strong practical and technical understanding of alternatives investments products and experience in Private Assets and/or hedge funds or other alternatives are distinct advantages. Exposure to working knowledge of Mandates, Fund Structuring, UCITS and Fund-of-Funds. Experience in leading operational procedures, system change and improvement. Exposure to working knowledge of cross borders taxations and capital structure. Extremely motivated and determined. Able to 'hit the ground running'. Can communicate clearly on various technical issues and to maintain a high level of professionalism when dealing with clients, investors, and colleagues. Must possess effective multi-tasking, project management, organisational and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work to deadlines in an efficient and accurate manner. Commercially focused. This is a Hybrid working role with the base location as London. The successful candidate will have to have the ability to commute to this location.
