Platform Data Engineer - Python - Hedge Fund Asset Management for one of the leading hedge fund managers, overseeing assets on behalf of institutional investors from around the world, including pension funds, endowments, insurance companies, government agencies, private banks and fund of funds. You'll be part of the Data Engineering team and will help with designing, implementing & continuously evolving data platform including pipeline & repository - data ingestion, curation, preparation and access required for systematic alpha ideas exploration, analytics & reporting. The Data engineering team will work closely with quantitative portfolio managers and researchers in a fast-paced environment. The data engineering team is part of systematic technology group responsible to design, implement and evolve systems required to enable the quantitative investment process. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain Software Engineering good practices. Design, implement and evolve data platform including pipeline, repository, data warehouse and data access APIs. Automate and support the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes from various market data vendors and internal operational data stores. ESSENTIAL: 3 Years Python experience Emphasis in good engineering practices, design, testing and strategic solutions Self-motivated, proactive Broad knowledge & experience of database concepts with proficiency in SQL and stored procedures. Knowledge of noSQL databases and big data technologies Experience in processing large and complex datasets Experience working with cloud or on prem technologies and data infrastructure (workflow management engines, databases, storage & file systems, analytics platforms) BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related discipline with excellent academic credentials DESIRABLE: Knowledge of financial data (security master, tick & bars pricing data, etc.), a plus with experience in Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Experience with designing and implementing real-time pipelines. Experience with data quality and validation. Experience using Kafka. is a plus Experience with KDB or similar high performance time series processing technology is a plus Standard hours will be 8am to 6pm with other such hours as are necessary to fulfil the role, some flexibility required. Responsibilities for the job include supporting the existing system, which is done on a rota basis. Must be flexible enough to accommodate liaison with overseas offices.
