Description

Facebook is seeking an experienced construction manager to join our Innovator team. The Innovator organization is a new team that seeks to bring builder knowledge to the early design phase of our Data Center designs while seeking to embed the strategies from our R&D teams. The Innovator team leverages Lean, Agile, and Scrum methodologies to execute strategy quickly and effectively with genuine consideration for Build-ability, Accessibility, Operability, Maintainability, Removability, Sustainability, and Circularity of our building elements. The Innovator team is comprised of four cross-functional teams: Leadership, Product Development, Fabrication & Integration, and Deployment. Each team leads their particular aspect of the innovation flow- through, yet they are deeply interrelated and comprised of cross-functional partners across the broader organization. These teams operate as partners, collaborators, and seek to influence each other toward a shared vision. These are not hierarchical teams which means that leaders must utilize influence rather than authority to drive timely and effective change. The Fabrication & Integration Team’s primary focus is with supply chain engagement. Specifically working to integrate the products with the supply chain to ensure program success for owner-supplied and contractor-supplied elements inclusive of Taxation, Legal, Shipping, Asset tracking, off-site fabrication elements, etc. This team is comprised of strategic designers, strategic builders, internal and external subject matter experts (SME) including pre-construction SME’s, construction contractors, schedulers, equipment reliability engineers, and sourcing specialists.
  • Responsible for leading the Cross-Functional Fabrication & Integration Team for the Program using influence rather than authority to achieve effective and positive results for the organization
  • Responsible for development of fabrication strategies and supply chain resources for new and evolving products developed as part of the program
  • Responsible for the development and establishment of a robust supply chain strategy to support innovations in off-site fabrication to support construction operations at our Data Centers - specifically targeting the Contractor Furnished Contractor Installed (CFCI) equipment and assemblies
  • Partner closely with internal sourcing groups to the development and establishment of a robust supply chain strategy to support innovations in off-site fabrication to support construction operations at our Data Centers - specifically targeting the Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) equipment
  • Responsible to identify and grow new supply chain options to support DFMA (design for manufacture and assembly) approaches
  • Responsible for the identification of risk and mitigation solutions for the CFCI supply chain regarding issues affecting quality, cost, delivery, or fabrication lead times
  • Responsible to proactively track and ensure alignment between supplier throughput and project demand to develop contractor furnished (CFCI) supply chain and sourcing models
  • Produce mock-ups on in-flight projects where possible to reduce learning curves on new products
  • Responsible to proactively track and ensure alignment mission and resulting products through construction and identify lessons learned
  • Leverage approaches like LEAN, DFMA, Modular, Prefabrication, and design simplification as necessary to optimize the construction process in concert with the mission touchstones
  • Ruthlessly prioritize to focus on product areas of maximum impact
  • Coordinate asset tracking and ownership transfer timing
  • Lead external builder focus groups/teams (general contractors and strategic trade partners)
  • Responsible for review & approval of all roles related contracts of supporting consultants as well as the associated invoices and allowance use requests
  • Develop and proactively manage KPI’s to measure off-site fabrication performance as well as identify project specific issues, lessons learned, coordinate appropriate escalation, design adjustments, and drive to swift resolution
  • Champion the removal of waste and un-necessary complexity in our supply chain processes where/as possible (LEAN)
  • Partner closely with Sourcing (SOE and MQE) teams for strategy and deployment of owner furnished equipment and assist in monitoring supplier manufacturing and equipment delivery schedules
  • Partner with ICM Quality Control to ensuring applicable quality control and commissioning approaches are embedded appropriately at the point of fabrication and at the final point of installation
  • Partner with ICM Loss Control to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local safety requirements related to off-site fabrication
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across the DEC organization to understand business requirements, implement new processes, and contribute to ongoing process improvements regarding supply chain
  • Partner with Program Peers in Deployment and Productization
  • Partner with General Contractors to mock-up products on in-flight projects where possible
  • 40% Domestic Travel to construction sites, fabrication sites required
  • Minimal International travel required
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical/electrical engineering, civil engineering, or equivalent
  • 10+ years’ experience in construction and/or project planning
  • Experience in large scale construction management, mission critical or infrastructure
  • Experience with developing workflows and their associated flowcharts, schedules, and action plans
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient working knowledge of Google Docs
  • Proficient working knowledge of Bluebeam
  • Mission Critical, infrastructure, and/or data center construction experience
  • Experience working with blended architecture, engineering, and construction teams
  • Software experience with eBuilder, Procore, Primavera P6, and/or BIM 360
  • Basic knowledge of MS Visio and MS SharePoint
  • Experience with LEAN tools (such as Choosing by Advantage, Last Planner/Pull Planning, Gemba, Kanban)
  • Experience with review and approval processes
  • Experience with Agile Teams & Processes
  • Working knowledge of SmartSheet
  • Experience with IPD projects
  • PMP Certification
  • Scrum Master Certification
